Position Summary:

The strategy and goal is to push entrepreneurs and startups to commercialize new innovations; pull food, beverage and agriculture-related business to locate in New York; and grow existing food, beverage and agriculture-related businesses.
Reporting directly to the Executive Director of the New York State Center of Excellence for Food and Agriculture (COE), the Project Manager serves as a coordinating agent and representative for the COE’s activities throughout the state to support the growth of the food and agriculture sector in New York. The Project Manager collaborates closely with a range of internal and external stakeholders, and must be able to understand, track, and follow up on the intricate details of multiple projects and agreements. This role requires a high degree of organizational diligence and aptitude, combined with thoughtful interpersonal and diplomatic skill to advance priorities to a diverse set of private, academic, and government resources in New York State. The position involves supervision of one or more student employees and interns to assist in achieving programmatic objectives.
Work closely with the Executive Director under general supervision, keep supervisor informed of progress. Responsible for making some decisions, which require consideration of various criteria.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree with more than 3 years of related experience required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proven ability to work independently and proactively while using sound judgment in decision-making and meeting deadlines.
- Highly effective written and oral communication and public outreach techniques.
- Excellent organizational skills, time management, and attention to detail.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively and enjoys building relationships with diverse groups and individuals.
- Proficiency and comfort with MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Google Docs, Adobe and similar programs.
- Understanding and administration of property management including following procedures for signing license agreements, safety issues, tracking licensing fees, and facility needs.
- Ability to speak confidently and concisely particularly in group situations.
- Must exercise sound and ethical judgment when acting on behalf of the University.
- Establish goals and objectives and determine methods to accomplish these goals using effective time management.
- Demonstrate skills in problem solving, critical thinking, and proper judgment in accomplishing tasks whether acting independently or participating effectively on a team.
- Must have excellent customer service skills.
- Must be comfortable with multitasking and adapt to competing priorities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in business, planning, agriculture, public affairs, public policy, or other economic development related field preferred.
- Experience successfully writing reports and grant proposals.
