Job description: Minimum Qualifications Open to qualified employees of New York State:
Candidates must be reachable for appointment on the current Civil Service eligible list for the title;

Transfer Opportunity: Candidates must have one year of permanent service in a title eligible for transfer under § 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.

In the event there is no viable Civil Service list, a provisional appointment may be made. In order to be eligible for a provisional appointment, candidates must have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in an office assistant, clerical, or keyboarding title allocated to Grade 5 or higher.

Candidates appointed provisionally must take the next scheduled Civil Service examination for this title, and their score must be reachable on the resulting eligible list before they can be permanently appointed. Duties Description Office Assistants 2 may perform any of the duties of Office Assistants 1, and typically supervise two or more lower-level staff. Non-supervisory positions perform complicated clerical and office support activities that require substantive knowledge of the program and/or of the programs governing laws, rules, or regulations. Such laws, rules, or regulations may be subject to frequent change. Incumbents typically handle sensitive applications, requests, or inquiries in which management or executive staff may be contacted or interested. They process applications or requests that do not meet normal parameters and may require additional research and consultation with higher level staff. They also perform activities that may require coordination with internal or external parties.

Additional Comments Background Investigation Requirements
Prospective appointees will be: 1) Checked against the Staff Exclusion List (SEL) maintained by the Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs. Prospective employees whose names appear on the SEL as having been found responsible for serious or repeated acts of abuse or neglect will be barred from appointment and may have their names removed from the eligible list(s) for the title(s) if applicable. 2) Investigated through a Criminal Background Check (CBC), which includes State and federal Criminal History Record Checks. All convictions must be reported; conviction of a felony or misdemeanor, or any falsified or omitted information on the prospective appointee’s employment application, may bar appointment or result in removal after appointment. Each case will be determined on its own merits, consistent with the applicable provisions of State and federal laws, rules, and regulations. Prospective employees will be fingerprinted in order to obtain a record of their criminal history information, and may be required to pay any necessary fees. 3) Screened against the Statewide Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment (SCR). Prospective employees will be required to pay any necessary fees. Additionally, prospective employees whose names are indicated on the SCR will be barred from appointment.

Additional Comments:
This is an evening shift weekdays, plus scheduled weekend hours.

This position is eligible for a downstate adjustment of $3,026.

Some positions may require additional credentials or a background check to verify your identity.

Expected salary: $37507 – 46103 per year
