JOB DESCRIPTION:

Marc Jacobs International, powered by the creative genius of Marc Jacobs, seeks a Designer – Accessories to join the Accessories Design team based in its New York City (SoHo) headquarters. Marc Jacobs International is part of the Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy (LVMH) fashion division and operates in the wholesale and direct to consumer retail markets.

The role will work closely with the Head of Design and Leathergoods team on the design and development process for Marc Jacobs Leathergoods. Responsibilities include sketching (hand or computer), creating design packages, prototype development and corrections, researching and building inspirational boards, and knowledge of market trends and techniques.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Manages the design process of leather goods from concept to production of finished collections under the supervision of the Head of Design.
• Develops innovative designs through sketches, design packages and prototypes.
• Researches and stays on top of current trends & applies to product design.
• Creates & delivers product presentations to offer inspirational ideas for the season.
• Works cross-functionally with Product Development, Tech Design, and Merchandising to determine style, materials, and color in order to deliver successful product.
• Operates within the given design calendar.
• Ability to work closely with other design team members to help design a cohesive collection.
• Identifies opportunities and makes suggestions for process improvement.
• Understands the Marc Jacobs Customer and brand positioning.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in Art or Fashion (Design, Merchandising, etc.)
• 5+ years design experience.
• Excellent taste level & brand awareness.
• Strong sense of color, fashion, product & trend.
• Strong knowledge of design & product development process.
• Strong design and conceptual skills.
• Strong organizational, time management, written & verbal communication skills and presentation skills.
• In compliance with the Order of New York City’s Commissioner of Health and Mental Hygiene to Require COVID-19 Vaccination in the Workplace, candidates will need to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination by their first day of employment.
