THE ROLE: Network Engineer

Presidio is seeking a Network Engineer to join our Managed Plus team in our New York, NY location (remote with some travel). This position is focused on Network Engineering for our enterprise data network client. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting global networks, a high level of technical skills for troubleshooting and problem analysis, along with the ability to clearly communicate the results of problem analysis to client representatives, IT support teams, and network providers to quickly and effectively resolve operational issues. The Network Engineer works in direct partnership with the client and internal Presidio teams to build and support complex and reliable network solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop a strong technical trusted advisor relationship with customer(s).
  • Ability to interact with a single client or multiple clients during a given week.
  • Flexibility to perform duties onsite at the customer designated location or remotely.
  • Communicate effectively with customers and Presidio team members including Managed Service management, Account Manager, Sales Overlay, Service delivery Manager and the remote Delivery Center teams.
  • Ability to work efficiently on their own during customer interactions.
  • Possesses the ability to multi-task between clients and projects.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge, understanding, and experience with Network infrastructure (WAN, MAN, LAN, Security, Wifi, Data, Voice, and Video) while engaging customer(s).
  • Identify customer needs and provide guidelines/best practices and direction to accomplish goals.
  • Ability to adapt to changing customer needs.
  • Adhere to contractual obligations by understanding what task and in/out of contract scope.
  • Identify service improvement opportunities and communicate them to appropriate Presidio team members.
  • Manage and document time applied to each customer.

  • Design, maintenance and third level support for Cisco routing and switching
  • Design, maintenance and third level Support for Firewalls, including Next Gen
  • Design, maintenance and third level Support for Wireless Infrastructure
  • Design, maintenance and third level Support for Network Voice Infrastructure
  • Design, maintenance and third level Support for Load Balancers
  • Design, maintenance and third level Support for SD WAN
  • Design, maintenance and third level Support for Meraki solutions
  • Established and proven experience of providing WAN & LAN support in diverse environments.
  • Network protocols (IP, OSPF, BGP, RIP, IPSec, etc)
  • MPLS / VPN / Hybrid WAN / Metro Networks / leased lines
  • Network Hardware (Cisco routers and switches, cabling, firewalls)
  • VOIP and Collaboration Systems
  • Network connections to Cloud Providers (AWS, Azure, etc.)
  • Network performance analysis and reporting
  • Incident, Change and Problem Management processes within an ITIL based framework.
  • Identity Management (Active Directory, ADFS, Azure AD, 2 Factor Auth, Radius, PEAP)
  • Wireshark
  • Operating systems: Microsoft (Server and Desktop), Linux
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 & Visio Professional
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with an ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • A firm understanding of teamwork and ability to follow all procedures and documentation as defined and provided by management.

  • Work independently with clients directly. Deliver contributions to design and troubleshooting efforts.
  • Logical, analytical approach to problem solving and attentive to detail.
  • Demonstrates strong focus on quality delivery and customer experience.
  • Providing specialist expertise to facilitate and execute the selection, installation and operations of networking components.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or the equivalent work experience and/or military experience
  • 5+ years’ experience designing, implementing and maintaining large network infrastructures
  • 5+ years’ experience troubleshooting devices within their engineering field
  • CCNP or equivalent certifications related to the area of specialty
  • Ability to work flexible hours to accommodate customer change windows.
