Responsibilities
- Provide direct clinical care to mothers and babies as defined by the policies, procedures and protocols of the midwifery service
- Explain the necessity, preparation, nature and anticipated effects of procedure(s) to patients and family
- Precept midwifery students and other medical students
- Provide patient and family education related to prenatal, intrapartum, postpartum, and interconceptional care
- Perform and participate in quality/performance improvement activities
- Role model advanced practice professional midwifery through conduct, appearance, communication, mutual respect, leadership, ethical decision-making, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
Qualifications
- Licensure as a Midwife by the NYS Department of Education required
- Board Certification or Eligibility by the American Midwifery Certification Board required
- Active DEA License required
- BLS and NRP Certification required
- Successful completion of an approved electronic fetal monitoring course within 2 years
- Experience working with an underserved patient population is a plus
- Proof of full COVID-19 vaccination is required prior to hire
