This is a print of Rosa Bonheur’s best-known painting, The Horse Fair. Framed under glass with wood backing. Print has water damage but all-in-all it displays quite nicely in its antique frame. Photographed at its worst angle so you can see details. 31″ x 16″.
Shows the horse market held in Paris on the tree-lined Boulevard de l’Hôpital, near the asylum of Salpêtrière. For a year and a half Bonheur sketched there twice a week, dressing as a man to discourage attention. Bonheur was well established as an animal painter when the painting debuted at the Paris Salon of 1853, where it received wide praise. Original currently on view in the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Queen Alexandra her Grandchildren and dogs
Antique print from 1902. It is 26″ wide.
has a water stain but it is still a great piece. An option is to have it matted, but you would loose sight of the border printing. It is framed under glass in a tiger oak frame which is in excellent condition.
