BUILD’s unique program offers students a four-year entrepreneurship experience designed to develop 21st Century Skills and motivate student engagement in school. Starting in 9th grade, BUILD students work with their peers and community mentors to develop business ideas, pitch to funders and launch real businesses. As students journey through high school and continue to grow their businesses, BUILD helps them explore college and career options, and assists students with the college application process. BUILD currently serves approximately 2,000 high school students annually at programs located in the San Francisco Bay Area, Washington DC, New York City and Boston. Position Summary:
Reporting to the National Director of College and Career Success, the Post-Secondary Success Intern (PSSI) is responsible for tasks related to both college / career success research and BUILD alumni engagement. Responsibilities might include, but are not limited to: conducting research on colleges and universities that are a strong match for BUILD students; researching institutional resources; research on internships and job opportunities; creating alumni newsletters; overseeing the alumni online portal; and other duties related to alumni engagement.
Position Responsibilities include:
Conducting research on best-match colleges and universities for BUILD students, including application, acceptance, matriculation rates for BUILD students, costs, average GPA, average SAT score, comparable institutions, and on-campus resources
Overseeing and updating the online alumni portal with relevant post-secondary resources (including scholarship information, jobs and internships, professional development opportunities, and social activities)
Creating an online database of college and career resources that focuses on both college readiness and professional development / soft skills
Transcribe alumni focus group data
Draft alumni newsletters with resources and alumni profiles; create social media content featuring alumni
Curating a list of summer / academic year internships and job opportunities with corporate partners and other organizations
Qualifications:
High school diploma
Minimum of one year work experience or some combination
Experience in conducting online research
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Self-directed, thrives in fast-paced environment and has a sense of humor
Flexible and able to adapt to shifting role requirements
Ability to work at a self-guided pace remotely
Preference given to candidates with a background in higher education, college access, and/or nonprofit organizations

Position Details:
Part Time/Non-exempt
Location: Remote, but must be located in one of the following states – NY, MA, RI, PA, DC, MD, VA, TX, CA, MO
Hours: 10 hours / week
Expected Duration: July 15, 2022 – October 30, 2022 (with a possibility of extension beyond end date)
Compensation:
The salary for the Post-Secondary Success Intern is $15/hour in accordance with BUILD’s equity focused salary bands.
