Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Engineering, BI, Analytics, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4 years of experience building financial models and automating financial processes.
  • Experience leading cross-functional projects, influencing and collaborating with teams.
  • Experience using spreadsheets to produce graphs and tables, and perform calculations and automation to process high volumes of data.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with applying statistical methods to financial modeling.
  • Knowledge of the news industry and how Google fits in.
  • Knowledge of SQL (e.g., writing queries and retrieving data from relational databases).
  • Knowledge of Accounting.
  • Ability to craft and deliver clear, coherent and concise messages about complex financial analyses to senior business leaders.
  • Ability to surpass in an unstructured environment.

As a Financial Analyst, your work, whether it’s modeling business scenarios or tracking performance metrics, is used by our leaders to make strategic company decisions. While working on multiple projects at a time, you are focused on the details while finding creative ways to solve big picture challenges.

The News and Partnerships Finance Team is part of Google’s Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) function and provides analytical and business planning expertise to the Knowledge and Information (K&I) and Global Business and Operations (GBO) Product Areas. We analyze strategy, measure impact, manage risk, and evaluate the financial implications of Product and Partnerships decisions. The Finance organization is an important partner and advisor to senior leadership, and is integral to the operations and strategy of the product areas (PAs) that we partner with.

The name Google came from “googol,” a mathematical term for the number 1 followed by 100 zeros. And nobody at Google loves big numbers like the Finance team when providing in depth analysis on all manner of strategic decisions across Google products. From developing forward-thinking analysis to generating management reports to scaling our automated financial processes, the Finance organization is an important partner and advisor to the business.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $103,000-$157,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process. Please note that the compensation details listed in US role postings reflect the base salary only, and do not include bonus, equity, or benefits.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain financial models of Google’s investments in News.
  • Evolve current approach to forecasting spend with News publishers through combination of data-driven insights and partnership with cross-functional leads.
  • Own the modeling and tracking of financial risks to our News strategy to support decision making and long-term resource allocation.
  • Establish and cultivate frameworks for the valuation of strategic investments in News.
  • Work with Product, Partnerships, and cross-functional teams to model the financial impact of new product initiatives. Work across time zones to collaborate with teams based in Europe.
