ABOUT CAPITAL DISTRICT VETERINARY REFERRAL HOSPITAL:

We encourage and empower our technicians to utilize their skills, have input into case management and patient care, think critically, work autonomously, further their knowledge and education, and pursue specialty certification if so desired.

SHIFT, HOURS, & COMPENSATION:

• Compensation is based on experience and ranges between $20 – $30/hr.
• Our technicians typically work 3, 12 hour shifts per week. However, we try to be flexible and accommodate the needs of our staff.
• We ask that you are available one overnight shift per week.
• 15% Shift differential for hours worked from 12am – 7am.
• Holidays are paid double time.

ABOUT THE JOB: As a Licensed Veterinary Technician in the Emergency and Critical Care department, the skills you will be utilizing are:

• Triaging incoming patients and managing clients throughout their visit
• Partnering with DVM’s in patient assessment, diagnostics, treatments, and procedures
• Obtaining and processing laboratory samples such as blood, urine, free fluid, and fine needle aspirates
• Utilize different modalities of imaging for patient assessment
• Executing, monitoring, and recovering all assigned sedation and anesthetic events

ABOUT YOU:

• Must be licensed in the state of New York- new graduates are encouraged to apply!
• Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills that enable them to develop and foster long term positive working relationships with colleagues, clients, and the community.
• Work well independently and in a team environment where colleagues lead by example and hold themselves accountable for quality medicine and customer service.
• Strong computer skills to work with a paperless information system.
• Flexible, dependable, responsible, and good time-management skills to work in a fast-paced environment where you can utilize high level skills and be an integral part of the medical team.
