New York Life’s Retail Annuities business unit is hiring for a “Head of New Business and Firm Operations” for its Third Party Distribution (TPD) channel, which covers the banks and brokers who sell New York Life annuities. The successful candidate will lead new-business processing and relationships with distributors, including licensing, appointments, and commissions.
The TPD service group strives for best-in-class service. We’re looking for an accountable, efficient and engaged professional guided by a commitment to service excellence.
Primary Responsibilities:
- New-business processing: annuity applications, premiums, suitability, NIGO (not in good order) communications and processing, Reg 60 processing, account transfers and reporting on policy statuses to various distributors and internal departments
- Distributor and advisor appointments and renewals as well as broker-dealer changes and distributor mergers/acquisitions
- Commission payments to distributors for individual sales as well as payments for marketing agreements
- Selling agreements between NYL and distributors as well as annual suitability and AML certifications and agreement changes due to product launches and distributor initiatives
- Relationships with all distributors (via a team of operations relationship managers)
- Relationship with our sales desk: i.e., external and internal wholesalers and oversight of a sales support team
- Management of NYL’s lockbox as well as the indexing and scanning of all work for all products sold/serviced through TPD Service (over 300k transactions per year)
- Industry liaison for NYL’s Retail Annuities business including active participation at IRI (Insured Retirement Institute), DTCC (Depository Trust Clearing Corporation), and OMR (Operations Managers Roundtable) to ensure NYL is represented in industry discussions and to ensure we maintain a strong industry presence.
- Involvement in eBusiness solutions (Ebix, iPipeline, and Firelight) and new business and inforce platforms; promotion and development of eDelivery enrollment for annuity contract and post issue documents
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of management experience
- FINRA Series 6 and 63 licenses required
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Decision making, strategy development, and team building skills
- Experience with Salesforce, insurance technology, digital sales and digital transactions, including eDelivery
- Insurance industry knowledge/involvement preferred
- Ability to collaborate with multiple teams and senior leaders across multiple organizations
- Excellent verbal and written communication
