We are looking for inspectors with experience in Stations (structural, MEP and architectural finishes), Cut & Cover Tunnels (civil, Geotech and systems), Rail Systems (track, electrical, communications) and Specialty Monitoring (noise, air vibration)

Position Summary

The Construction Area Inspector performs on-site inspections of the commodities and scope assigned to them.

Typical Responsibilities

  • Inspects overall quality of work, adherence to quality control procedures and ensures compliance to project specifications
  • Prepare daily, weekly or other reports as required to show progress
  • Verifies that records of independent inspections and testing, and samples of the works and the materials being brought to site are in compliance with the obligations of the contract.
  • Performs reviews and audits of completed records to confirm that they are complete, accurate and authorized by the relevant authorities.
  • Assists and/or conducts planned audits and surveillances on the project and on the sub-contractors performing work.
  • Assists with the determination of suitable correction, corrective and / or preventive action to address identified Non-Conformances on the project.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications

  • Typically requires bachelor’s degree in engineering (or international equivalent) and a minimum of 5-7 years of relevant experience or 9-11 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work with various stakeholders.
  • Technical knowledge obtained through experience working in construction or design field
  • Prior experience inspecting work performed by prime contractors and subcontractors
  • Preference given to candidates having experience working with public rail agencies in the NY Tri-state area.
