THE POSITION

RUBENSTEIN is seeking an innovative, creative, and solutions-oriented UX / UI Designer / Developer specializing in WordPress Design and Development to join our Digital team. This person will be expected to work with agency staff, clients and vendor partners to craft smart and elegant solutions for a wide range of projects across multiple platforms with a focus on the mobile experience. The Designer/Developer will primarily be responsible for supporting the overall digital design and production needs of our clients, new business activities and in-house marketing efforts.

Expertise with web development is required, and experience with video, audio, and/or photography is a plus. All candidates must possess a portfolio demonstrating strong mobile and desktop design work, a solid understanding of layout, typography and storytelling techniques, and a smart UX sensibility. Our projects are goal orientated, and as such, an understanding of analytics implementation and data analysis is a fundamental part of this role. Candidates will be expected to be quick learners with creative ideas and have the proven ability to work collaboratively.

PLEASE NOTE: This position is currently remote, and will eventually be located within our New York City office.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work across a wide range of the agency’s clients to convey interactive story ideas and complex interactions with wireframes and prototypes
  • Design for a variety of web related projects; web, email, app, intranet (front-end, microsites, landing pages, motion graphics / animated gifs, data-visualization, slideshow video, etc.)
  • Work on front-end frameworks as informed by client goals and account strategy
  • Meet with internal teams to discuss website design / function, and design / manage website layout
  • Edit WordPress themes / plugins to inform functionality and improve user experience
  • Troubleshoot content issues and monitor performance of the live website
  • Write client side HTML and CSS, and server side PHP
  • Implement Google Analytics changes and provide insights to inform site architecture
  • Utilizing strong conceptual abilities, originate solutions on-time and on budget
  • Translate ideas across multiple channels if necessary
  • Nimbly work well within a collaborative team account structure

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • Excellent visual and interactive design skills; a clear grasp of typography, layout, color, motion, and behavior
  • Proven expertise designing / developing WordPress websites
  • Demonstrated proficiency in CSS3, HTML5, JavaScript
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, web development and Content Management Systems
  • Intermediate level of experience with Google Analytics preferred
  • Deep knowledge of the production process; able to work off a creative brief and translate it into design
  • Ability to manage time, multi-task and move quickly with efficiency and attention to detail while ensuring deadlines are met
  • Creativity and penchant for innovation, strategic thinking and critical thought
  • Demonstrated expertise and affinity for digital tools and platforms, and the eagerness to learn and stay current in the digital space; on top of the latest app/meme/tactic/tech, what makes it so popular, and how a client might use it to reach their own unique goals and audiences
  • Excellent communications and presentation skills with the ability to communicate with a diverse group of people and audiences; agility and versatility to stretch across client sectors, and the ability to effectively present work to colleagues and clients at all levels

EDUCATION & WORK EXPERIENCE

  • College degree preferred – preferred focus in Graphic / Web Design or equivalent ideal
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience, ideally in an agency setting
  • 4+ years of experience designing / developing WordPress websites preferred
