Job description: JOB DESCRIPTION:

Marc Jacobs International, powered by the creative genius of Marc Jacobs, seeks a Senior Manager, Product Development – Shoes Development to join the Production Contemporary RTW team based in its New York City (SoHo) headquarters. Marc Jacobs International is part of the Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy (LVMH) fashion division and operates in the wholesale and direct to consumer retail markets.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

DEVELOPMENT

  • In collaboration with design and factory, assess and approve construction for manufacturing efficiency and cost goals.
  • Manage tech pack process with Design, including creating BOMs, sample requests, reviewing all design details for accuracy, completeness, quality, and affordability, plus ensure material testing is within compliance prior to factory release.
  • Knowledge of material testing procedure and requirements for footwear.
  • As needed, recommend enhancements, construction, and material options to elevate our brand and meet margin requirements.
  • Ability to problem solve construction issues and provide viable solutions.
  • Coordinate with manufacturing partners and cross-functional teams to deliver on calendar and within timeliness for all protos, SMS, and bulk approval samples.
  • Communicate daily with overseas and domestic suppliers on questions and changes to assist in interpreting design and business needs.
  • Reviews all prototypes and market samples to ensure accuracy in execution.
  • Monitor, track, and report on all requested prototypes making the seasonal calendar dates are achieved.
  • Own final sample approval with design before passing off to production.
  • Responsible for costing each style and maintaining margin goals for each season as set forth by the Vice President of Development
  • Schedule and attend all fittings, take proper notes, make suggestions for construction and quality to ensure integrity of brand but also maintain margin goals.
  • Monitor and review sketch to merch plan to help prevent over development
  • Maintain, monitor, and report on budget weekly by season.

PRODUCT INTEGRITY

  • Aims to instill quality in the product from onset of development through final production.
  • Reviews all components with an eye for quality and performance.
  • Ensures that all components and constructions used are compliant for performance and restricted substances prior to production. Works in tandem with raw materials team, production, and factories to ensure this.

CALENDAR

  • Communicates and manages calendar across internal teams to ensure timely turnover of development, return of prototypes, and market samples and placement of final production.
  • Monitors calendar daily to promote flow of development; apprises and resolves calendar variances with team and management.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • As needed works closely with design, raw materials team, and production to resolve delivery and material issues affecting production.
  • Works on other relevant projects as required by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent life experience
  • Minimum 4 years in shoes product development.
  • Strong technical skills in materials, components, processes and concepts.
  • Ability to understand 2D images in 3D
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • Strong math and collaborative skills
  • Able to work in a fluid, fast-paced, multi-channel environment.
  • Ability to regularly travel to the factories.
  • In compliance with the Order of New York City’s Commissioner of Health and Mental Hygiene to Require COVID-19 Vaccination in the Workplace, candidates will need to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination by their first day of employment.
